When it came to choosing a book for this fantastic hop, there was only one contender: Forever, by Judy Blume, the ALA’s seventh most challenged book of the 1990s and the most memorable book of my teens. Not only because it was the book fuelling an army of whispers at school (Have you read it? Have you read THAT scene? Did your mum catch you with it?), but because it’s stark, brave and powerful, and it was a major influence on the development of the young adult genre. In sum: a bloomin’ brilliant book.
